Description
Vancomycin 1000 mg Injection is a potent glycopeptide antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus). It is administered intravenously (IV) and is reserved for severe or life-threatening infections.
Composition:
- Vancomycin Hydrochloride – 1000 mg/vial
Indications:
Used to treat the following infections:
- Severe MRSA Infections (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)
- Sepsis (Bloodstream Infections)

Dosage and Administration:

- Intravenous (IV) Infusion (Administer over at least 60 minutes)
✅ Dosage Guidelines:
- Adults: 15-20 mg/kg IV every 8-12 hours (Maximum 2 g/dose)
- Pediatrics: 10-15 mg/kg IV every 6-12 hours
- Renal Impairment: Adjust dosage based on creatinine clearance
Precautions and Warnings:
- Red Man Syndrome”: Infuse slowly to prevent flushing and rash.
- Nephrotoxicity: Monitor kidney function in high-risk patients.
- Ototoxicity: Use with caution in patients with hearing impairment.
- Pregnancy Category C: Use only when clearly needed under medical supervision.
