Description

Vancomycin 1000 mg Injection is a potent glycopeptide antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus). It is administered intravenously (IV) and is reserved for severe or life-threatening infections.

Composition:

• Vancomycin Hydrochloride – 1000 mg/vial

Indications:

Used to treat the following infections:

• Severe MRSA Infections (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)
• Sepsis (Bloodstream Infections)
• Pneumonia (Hospital-Acquired or Ventilator-Associated)
• Endocarditis (Infection of Heart Lining)
• Bone and Joint Infections (Osteomyelitis)
• Meningitis (Bacterial)
• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections

Dosage and Administration:

✅ Route of Administration:

• Intravenous (IV) Infusion (Administer over at least 60 minutes)

✅ Dosage Guidelines:

• Adults: 15-20 mg/kg IV every 8-12 hours (Maximum 2 g/dose)
• Pediatrics: 10-15 mg/kg IV every 6-12 hours
• Renal Impairment: Adjust dosage based on creatinine clearance

• Red Man Syndrome”: Infuse slowly to prevent flushing and rash.
• Nephrotoxicity: Monitor kidney function in high-risk patients.
• Ototoxicity: Use with caution in patients with hearing impairment.
• Pregnancy Category C: Use only when clearly needed under medical supervision.
• Drug Interactions: Avoid combining with other nephrotoxic drugs (e.g., aminoglycosides).
