Description

Terlipressin 10 ml Injection is a vasopressin analogue used primarily for treating bleeding esophageal varices and circulatory shock. It works by constricting blood vessels, thereby reducing blood flow to the affected areas and controlling bleeding.

Composition:

• Terlipressin Acetate – 1 mg/10 ml

Indications:

Terlipressin 10 ml Injection is used to treat:

• Acute Variceal Bleeding (Esophageal Varices)

• Hepatorenal Syndrome (Type 1) – Kidney failure in patients with advanced liver disease

• Septic Shock – As an adjunct treatment when catecholamines are insufficient

Dosage and Administration:

• Acute Bleeding Esophageal Varices:

  • Initial Dose: 2 mg IV every 4 hours for the first 24-48 hours

  • Maintenance Dose: 1 mg IV every 4-6 hours

  • Maximum treatment duration: 5 days

• Hepatorenal Syndrome:

  • Dose: 1 mg IV every 4-6 hours

  • Adjust based on patient response and renal function.

• Cardiovascular Risks: Use with caution in patients with a history of hypertension or cardiac disease.
