Description
Ondansetron Injection is an antiemetic used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. It works by blocking serotonin receptors in the brain that trigger nausea.
Composition:
Each ml contains:
- Ondansetron Hydrochloride – 2 mg
Available strengths:
- 2 mg/ml (in 2 ml ampoule – total 4 mg dose)
Uses/Indications:
Ondansetron Injection is indicated for:
- Prevention of nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) prevention
- Nausea in gastrointestinal conditions
Dosage and Administration:

- Intravenous (IV) or Intramuscular (IM) injection

Adults: 8 mg IV slowly before chemotherapy, followed by 8 mg after 8 hours

Children (≥6 months): 0.15 mg/kg IV before chemotherapy (max 8 mg)

- Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV):

Adults: 4 mg IV/IM before anesthesia induction

Children (≥1 month): 0.1 mg/kg IV (max 4 mg)
